     Are you interested in taking some classes? Linda offers a variety of classes (both private and group) at different levels in drawing, water colour painting, mixed media, stained glass and pottery. All classes are held at The Cracked Pot Studio for ages 13 and up.  Some of the classes are seasonal, and new classes are added as students request a desire to try something different. Beginner's Pottery

Wheel Throwing and Hand-Building

  Have you always wanted to try working with clay, or perhaps you took a class years ago and would like to start again? These classes will give you the basics in both hand-building and wheel-throwing, along with experiencing firing and glazing techniques.

Bring a notebook, pen, bib apron and a terry cloth towel (large enough to cover across your knees) and the rest will be provided! No experience needed!

Level 2 Pottery

Alternative Firing Techniques highlighting Obvara and Raku Firings

First 3 classes will focus on the production of work suitable for the subsequent firings. Bring a bib apron, terry cloth towel, a notebook and pencil.  4th class will centre on application of unique glazes in preparation for firings.  5th class will be an early evening Obvara firing starting at 6p.m. The final (6th) class will culminate with an early evening Raku firing using latex resist and glaze trailing technique starting at 6pm.  No clay experience is needed!

Beginner's Water Colour Painting

Just the basics! Step by step instruction will be given to connect you to the wonder and enjoyment of water colour painting! All supplies included!

6 Classes, 1.5hrs. per class

Beginner's Drawing: Seeing Things Differently

Designed specifically for anyone who uses the phrase “I can’t even draw a straight line!” Using a series of drawing exercises to help you see the world around you differently and offer you a variety of techniques to help you place what you are seeing more accurately down on paper. Come with a positive attitude and a willingness to try something new!

All supplies provided!

6 weeks, 1.5hrs. per class

Intermediate to Advanced Pottery

For those who have taken at least one series of beginner’s pottery, or for intermediate and advanced potters and are interested in studying more complicated forms both in hand building and throwing on the wheel. This class can also be used as personal studio time, but please state this upon registering.

Bring a notebook, pen, bib apron, and a terry cloth towel (large enough to cover across your knees) and the rest will be we provided!

Level 3 Pottery

Experiments with Surface Treatment

This program is designed to exercise your imagination, and encourage you to take bold steps in experimenting with unique techniques on both wet and bisque-fired pieces. From open-work to shaving cream, to blowing bubbles, to agate-ware, to scratch and break and beyond, each class will have a new technique for you to discover and make your own! Students will need to bring 6 wheel-thrown (cone 6 clay body) bisque-fired pieces, and 2 pleasing colours of your choice of 50 ml. bottles of liquid underglaze, notebook, pen, bib apron, terry cloth towel and your imagination! One bisque and one glaze firing will be included.

***Please Note: Not for Beginners. Participants must be able to throw competently on the wheel without assistance to take this program***

6 Classes, 2.5hrs. per class

Mixed Media Techniques

Learn how to make your own personalized creations for your home and/or gifts for your family and friends by incorporating various paints, papers, inks, molding pastes, fabrics, dyes, found objects and more with very interesting techniques. No drawing or painting experience needed. Step by step instructions given with each technique. Lots of creative experimenting with no mistakes! All supplies provided.

6 weeks, 2hrs. per class

Level 2 Pottery

Using Molds / Decorative Techniques

This course is for intermediate pottery students who will be encouraged to further explore the vast possibilities in combining the use of molds in both throwing and hand-building skills.  Each class will challenge the student artistically and intellectually as focus will be on design and decorating construction, alterations and modifications techniques.

Bring a notebook, pen, bib apron and a terry cloth towel (large enough to cover across your knees) and the rest will be provided!

***Please Note: Not for Beginners. Participants must be able to throw competently on the wheel without assistance to take this program***

Level 4 Pottery

Wet on Wet Coloured Slip Techniques

Learn slip revival, feathering, spiral, flowers, celtic designs, and colour combinations both inside and outside freshly thrown vessels.  

***Please note: You must be able to throw competently on the wheel to take this class*** 

3 Classes, 2hrs. per class

Beginner's Stained Glass

Learn the basics in pattern transfer, cutting, grinding, copper-foiling and soldering techniques while making unique sun-catchers.

All supplies included!
